7 August 2023Uniforms, although at first glance they may appear to be merely an aesthetic or formal aspect of a lifeguard’s job, play a key role when performing daily duties. Why is this so?
- Safety: Specialized clothing protects against potentially harmful agents such as heat, chemicals and sharp objects.
- Recognizability: In emergency situations, it is important that those in need of help can easily identify rescuers. Uniforms that are uniform and easily recognizable make this task easier.
- Functionality: Many garments include specialized pockets or holders designed to hold tools and equipment necessary for the job.
What are the uniform requirements for rescue team members?
According to the latest “Decree of the Minister of Health dated 03.01.2023. on the designation of the State Medical Rescue system and requirements for uniforms of members of medical rescue teams” (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 118), special attention has been paid to the issue of uniforms. Below is the most important information:
- Current Requirements: Paragraph 8 of the regulation indicates that uniforms for members of emergency medical teams and members of air medical rescue teams that meet the requirements set forth in the current regulations (i.e., consistent with the RMZ of December 17, 2019) can be used until December 31, 2027. This means that no new restrictive changes have been made in this regard, and the uniforms currently in use will continue to be current for the next few years.
Both functionality and compliance with current regulations are key issues for lifeguard uniforms. Attention to these aspects ensures that rescuers can operate effectively, safely and in accordance with current standards.
§ 8 – Uniforms of members of medical rescue teams and members of air medical rescue teams
